Vin Diesel returns to the anti-hero role Riddick in Pitch Black, this time getting the first of an alleged trilogy to flesh out his character. The movie is uneven and overly ambitious, with so-so visual effects and inconsistent plotting, but offers enough visual intrigue and action to make it interesting.
