A videotaped version of David Fincher’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo red band trailer has finally found its way online. The movie trailer is apparently playing in European theaters (though that’s to be disputed, given that it has a red MPAA label), and it’s rumored that the American green band trailer will debut next week with X-Men: First Class.
Needless to say… it kicks ass. Fast, dark and messed up, the trailer paints itself as “the feel bad movie of Christmas.” As cool as the visuals are, the trailer is worth it purely for the closing title segment, which is bad ass in its own right.
Watch The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo red band trailer (UPDATE: Sony has asked us to remove the trailer, so we’ve replaced with the green band trailer instead – it’s almost identical minus some nudity) and share your opinion in the comments section below:
UPDATE: There are rumors that this recorded “leak” is actually a piece of guerrilla marketing by the studio. As mentioned above, the trailer was purportedly recorded in Europe, but comes with an MPAA rating screen – which only appear in America. Hacker Lisbeth Salander would feel obliged to lead something like this. And the video and audio quality is surprisingly good.
UPDATE 2: Sony Pictures asked us to remove the red band trailer. So maybe the leak really was a leak. Or that was all part of the plan, too. Time will tell.
