The 10 Best Johnny Depp Movies

No. 3. A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)

Johnny Depp made his acting debut as the boyfriend of Nancy Thompson, the lead protagonist in the Wes Craven classic A Nightmare on Elm Street. Though he doesn’t survive the movie, his character is on the receiving end of one of the more memorable and gruesome murder scenes in the movie, his final minutes an avalanche of blood and guts exploding from the bed in which he sleeps.

No. 2. Platoon (1986)

One of the best war movies ever made, Oliver Stone’s Vietnam epic is a sweeping tale of camaraderie, war violence and survival against all odds. The only reason it isn’t #1 on this list is that Depp plays a supporting character.

No. 1. Edward Scissorhands (1990)

One of the strangest movies of Johnny Depp’s character is also his best movie. Though he was known for his work on “21 Jump Street”, his first collaboration with Tim Burton put him on the radar of mainstream audiences, setting into motion a long and extremely fruitful career. Well, at least audiences who went and saw a romantic tale about a man with scissors as hands.

Bah! This list is 40 percent ridiculous, I say. Scratch Blow (which did), the overrated and melodramatic Platoon, Finding Neverland and Sleepy Hollow. Replace them with Donnie Brasco (hello?), Dead Man, Before Night Falls and Benny and Joon.

I love Johnny Depp. I think he is an incrediable actor. It’s hard to pick Best Depp Movies. But, I think I’s have to go with the Donnie Brasco. Don’t think any other actor could have done justice to this movie, Johnny Depp is the best actor of his generation.
