G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra sucked. There, I said it. And no, I’ve never said it before. Or predicted it long before it was released. Between the terrible special effects, the ludicrous plot, the sandpaper acting and the sheer awfulness of it all, G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra was the epitome of suckage, if suckage were a word.
By default, the sequel has to be better.
The newly released movie trailer for 2012′s G.I. Joe Retaliation suggests it will be a whole lot better. Maybe not amazing, maybe not great, but Fast and Furious-level good. In other words, it will probably still be loud and dumb, but it won’t be laughably bad. It may actually be entertaining for a change, and in the right ways.
The new trailer looks grittier, more serious and a little more grounded in reality. It also stars The Rock. And Bruce Willis. Better yet, it has a new director (whose last film was Justin Bieber: Never Say Never).
G.I. Joe Retaliation opens June 29, 2012.
