Ridley Scott is returning to the sci-fi genre for the first time in decades with the highly anticipated movie Prometheus. You may recall that Scott is responsible for such classics as Alien and Blade Runner. In fact, Prometheus was originally intended to be a prequel to Alien, though it has evolved into something that appears to be much more epic in scope, set in the same universe but not necessarily featuring those same pesky acid-bleeding, mouth-in-mouth-in-mouth aliens.
The new IMAX trailer (Also, see below for the even newer full-length trailer) is now available for your viewing pleasure, and while it [thankfully] doesn’t expand much on the film’s finer plot points, it does reveal some new footage, including that of the living, breathing Space Jockey (also known as that really large alien skeleton that the crew discovers in the original Alien).
We think Prometheus looks awesome, and expect that you should, too. Watch the all-new Prometheus movie trailer now:
UDPATE: Here is the new full-length movie trailer, added less than 24 hours later, which does expand on the story just enough to show that humanity has just gotten itself into deep shit:
Prometheus will be released on June 8, 2012 and stars Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, Guy Pearce, Patrick Wilson and Logan Marshall-Green, who I would have bet money was Tom Hardy. Learn more and view photos from Prometheus.
