Say Anything

Say Anything and its main character, Lloyd Dobler, probably appear on hundreds of “best” lists where movie history is concerned. Cameron Crowe’s love of Seattle is clear in this movie, about a quirky high school grad who pursues a relationship with the sheltered valedictorian.

10 Things I Hate About You

A modernization of Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew10 Things is best known for putting future superstars like Joseph Gordon Levitt, Julia Stiles and the late Heath Ledger on the map. Throughout the clever teen comedy, Seattle landmarks like Buckaroo Tavern, Paramount Theater and Gas Works Park can be spotted.

50/50

This Seattle set comedy about cancer landed on over a dozen top-ten lists at the end of 2011. The screenplay is loosely based on the experience of screenwriter Will Reiser, a close friend of one of the stars, Seth Rogen. Seattle alumnus Joseph Gordon Levitt stars as well, as a young man with a “50/50” chance at beating a rare form of spinal Cancer.
