Ever since his career-making turn in 1999′s 10 Things I Hate About You, Joseph Gordon-Levitt has proven he has an eye for choosing rewarding, versatile projects (we’ll ignore G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra). Joseph Gordon-Levitt is one of the most talented actors working today, and while he has yet to earn an Academy Award nomination, it’s only a matter of time.

With The Dark Knight Rises still plugging along and the Gordon-Levitt-starring Premium Rush in theaters this week, now is a perfect time to look at the accomplished actor’s best movies.

Zany in more ways than one, Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax is a fun animated film that kids will love and parents will appreciate, unless you hate the environment. With a heavy handed message about nature and big industry and questionable musical numbers, The Lorax isn’t perfect, but is consistently enjoyable.

To some people summer is about vacations, maybe hitting the lake or pool, relaxing, spending time with the kids – and there is that. But summer to me also means it’s time to look forward to the annual family reunion. Big family or small, summer seems to be the best time to gather the clan, catch up, enjoy some good food, take a lot of pictures and generally have a good time.

Love. Happiness. Kids. Pick two. That’s the clever tagline from the movie Friends with Kids, a fun if ultimately forgettable romantic comedy that tries to be different but ultimately ends up exactly how you’d expect it to.

American Reunion is now available to own, and comes in so many formats half of the Blu-ray cover is devoted to explaining them all. The combo pack includes Blu-Ray, DVD, digital copy and Ultraviolet formats, and I’m pretty sure there is a way to watch it on your watch, too. Funny enough, there’s also an “All-New Movie” sticker on the package, which makes me think Universal is afraid that people will confuse the movie with the original American Pie.

The high-stakes world of Seattle politics gets the big screen treatment with Grassroots. I’d be lying if I said it was a movie only a Seattleite could love, because Grassroots is a well-acted and entertaining drama – albeit one that fades in the home stretch.
