If A Dangerous Method isn’t on your list of movies to see this holiday season, you better crumple it up and start over. The 10 Best Johnny Depp Movies

October 27th, 2011
johnny-depp

Johnny Depp is one of the highest paid actors working today and has received three Oscar nominations among a variety of other accolades. Even though he’s starred in more bad movies in the last decade than he has good ones, his star has only grown brighter, aided by the hundreds of millions of dollars he’s earned from the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. Depp is a talented actor, one who is willing – or even determined – to take on strange characters in strange movies. With Johnny Depp’s latest [strange] movie The Rum Diary opening in theaters this week, it’s the perfect time to look back on his 10 best movies to determine why he’s as popular as he is.

When it comes to quantity, the theatrical division of Marvel Comics, a subsidiary of the Walt Disney Company, owned this summer. With Thor, X-Men: First Class and Captain America: The First Avenger all looking to jump-start new or rebooted franchises, Marvel had just about every month of summer covered.

The Best Colin Farrell Movies of All Time

August 20th, 2011
colin-farrell-best-movies

For some reason, Colin Farrell has developed a love-him-or-hate-him reputation with audiences and critics. I for one find him to be one of the most talented actors working today, and have felt that way since he debuted in Tigerland over a decade ago. Farrell has proven to be a versatile actor who can and is willing to take on just about any juicy role, whether it’s playing a sleazy boss in Horrible Bosses or a love-smitten hit man in In Bruges.

Farrell is receiving strong reviews for his portrayal as an evil vampire in the horror-comedy remake Fright Night, so I figured it was about time to look back on the actor’s career.

I’m not at Comic-Con 2011, but I still get photos of women in bikinis. The world is kind.

SIFF Reviews: The Hunter, Mammuth, Tornado Alley

June 8th, 2011
mammuth

My experience at the Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF) has been pretty hit-or-miss, though it’s trending in the right direction. Of the five movies I’ve seen thus far, the first three were wastes of time, so much so that they’ve marred my entire experience.

New Transforms Girl = New Maxim 100 #1

May 4th, 2011
maxim-100-Rosie-Huntington-Whiteley

First off, let me say what a fun job it would be to be a Maxim editor responsible for selecting the 100 most beautiful women in the world. I mean, really.

Second, let me note how suspicious it is that Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, who will star in the upcoming Transformers: Dark of the Moon, was chosen as #1 in this year’s list.

Kathryn Bigelow to Show Osama Bin Laden’s Death

May 3rd, 2011
osama-bin-laden

Kathryn Bigelow and screenwriter Mark Boal are praising the Gods right now as their yet-to-be-titled project about the hunt for Osama Bin Laden is still in the writing stage – meaning they can make adjustments to depict the raid that led to the notorious terrorist’s death. Even more to their fortune, the duo – responsible for the Oscar-winning The Hurt Locker – has been following a special military unit for quite some time. The same special military unit responsible for the Bin Laden’s death.

Fast and Furious 6: The Inevitable Sequel

May 3rd, 2011
elsa-pataky

It’s a shocker, I know. To even think Universal would consider a sixth Fast and Furious movie is beyond me! I mean, it’s not like the fifth movie – Fast Five – has made nearly $200 million in its first few days of release. It’s not like it made $86 million in the United States during its opening weekend.

Wait! What? It met those numbers? It’s going to double its $120 million production budget by the end of the week?

April 1st, 2011
sympathy-for-delicious

If you ran into a celebrity on the street and had the opportunity to ask him or her one question, what would it be?

You now have that opportunity, but you have to respond by Saturday morning.

In anticipation of Oscar nominated actor Mark Ruffalo’s directorial debut Sympathy for Delicious, we’ve been given the opportunity by Maya Entertainment to ask one of the cast members a question about the movie, or about the actor.

Before Scream 4, There Was 1, 2 and 3… on Blu-Ray

March 31st, 2011
scream-blu-ray

We all know Scream 4 is a cash grab. Wes Craven hasn’t directed a hit film in years. Most of the cast has done nothing in the last decade. And the Weinsteins have never regained their glory from the 90’s.

That doesn’t mean I’m not looking forward to it. In fact, I am excited for Scream 4.

The first trailer (well, extended teaser trailer) for the upcoming movie X-Men: First Class is now online and it is – how do you say? – pretty kick ass. The movie, which is set around the time of the Cuban Missile Crisis, looks at the early relationship of Charles Xavier and Magneto and the formation of the first X-Men team.
