Drive Angry Movie & Blu-Ray Review

May 31st, 2011
drive-angry-nicolas-cage

Nicolas Cage is back! In his twelfth bad movie of the 21st century. Yes, I counted. Unlike Season of the Witch, Ghost Rider or Bangkok Dangerous, however, Drive Angry is intentionally bad. And also stars Amber Heard. If a movie achieves what it intended to be, and stars Amber Heard, does that make it… good?

I Am Number Four: Is Teresa Palmer Worth It?

May 24th, 2011
i-am-number-four

The sci-fi action thriller I Am Number Four comes to Blu-Ray and DVD this week, which means home audiences can now enjoy Teresa Palmer walking around in tight leather in high definition. Unfortunately, you have to sit through an hour and a half of teen drama and romance to get to that point – but it’s worth it.

Terminator/The Usual Suspects: The Books?

May 23rd, 2011
terminator-usual-suspects

The Terminator and The Usual Suspects are very similar in many ways. People die in both of them. And they are regarded as two of the best movies in modern cinema. One is about a cyborg sent from the future to assassinate the mother of humanity’s last chance, the other about a gimpy Kevin Spacey and a mysterious underworld figure. Very similar indeed.

Both movies were recently released by MGM and 20th Century Fox in book format. Book format!

Paul Bettany’s Many Angelic Roles, and Giveaway!

May 13th, 2011
paul-bettany-legion-priest

Paul Bettany has a thing for God. That much is clear. His new movie Priest, in which he plays a priest in a dystopian future where vampires and a corrupt church are in constant battle, opens in theaters today. Last year, he played an angel who attempts to fend off an army of demons in Legion. In The Da Vinci Code, he played an obsessively dedicated servant of God. And in The Reckoning, he plays a priest in medieval times.

Green Lantern: The Big Flop of 2011

May 9th, 2011
green-lantern

Writing this article pains me. Growing up, I was a massive Green Lantern fan. I read plenty of comic books, but Green Lantern was one of the few comics I actually subscribed to. The comic was great, and I read it until I lost interest in comic books as a whole.

I’ve been waiting for a movie for years, and when it was announced that Martin Campbell, the director of Goldeneye and Casino Royale, I got even more excited.

Thor: The Movie Review

May 7th, 2011
thor

Testosterone and thunder collide with the release of Thor, the first official blockbuster of the summer movie season and a precursor to next year’s The Avengers. The movie, curiously helmed by Shakespearean director Kenneth Branagh, is an entertaining start to the season but unfortunately not the knock-your-socks action extravaganza you may be expecting.

Transformers 3 Trailer: Same as the Last One?

April 28th, 2011
transformers-3

The new full-length trailer for Transformers: Dark of the Moon was just released at Apple.com.

And it looks just like the last one.

Last one? Whaaaa? What you mean? I mean it looks like the last one. The last Transformers movie. The last Michael Bay movie. The last movie about things blowing up other things.

Skyline vs. Battle: Los Angeles: The Real Truth

April 25th, 2011
skyline

Movies often come in pairs, but in the case of Skyline and Battle: Los Angeles, it is more than just mere coincidence. Much has been made about the similarities between the two alien invasion films, most notably that when the Aaron Eckhart-starring Battle: Los Angeles debuted in theaters this March, many critics and moviegoers asked, “Didn’t this same movie get released last fall?”

TRON: Legacy Blu-Ray Review

April 5th, 2011
tron-legacy-olivia-wilde

With what can only be described as an extreme case of gluttony, Disney has released Tron: Legacy in a five-disc Blu-Ray collection, a sad waste of plastic. It’s not that Tron: Legacy is a bad movie – it’s just that it is wholly unnecessary to provide the film to a single buyer in four different formats.

See the Whole Movie in Apollo 18′s New Trailer

February 19th, 2011
apollo-18

The first trailer for Apollo 18 is now online, depicting NASA’s secret mission to the moon that led to the discovery of extraterrestrial life. And not friendly extraterrestrials, either. The movie is shot documentary style and is supposed to be “long lost footage” (a la Cloverfield and Quarantine), which to me means that all of the characters will die by the end of the movie.

I Am Number Four. But Am I Good? (Movie Review)

February 19th, 2011
i-am-number-four

2011 gets its first real adrenaline shot this weekend with the release of I Am Number Four, yet another adaptation of a young adult book series looking to be the next big thing. Unfortunately, inconsistent pacing and an overly strong emphasis on teen romance keep the film from achieving its potential.

Teresa Palmer is Not Number Four

February 18th, 2011
i-am-number-four-teresa-palmer

But Teresa Palmer is IN the new movie I Am Number Four, opening nationwide today. And since she’s in it, I’m just a little more inclined to check the movie out. In celebration of the sci-fi action flick’s release, I’ve assembled a few photos of the blond actress below. Frankly, I felt a like some creepy stalker putting this montage together, but then again I’ve been called worse, both my women on the street and in legal documents, so why the hell not. Besides, how is this any different than Google Images?
