Margaret: The Epic Drama That Almost Wasn’t

Complex, star-studded and gripping, Margaret had serious potential for award contention – back when it was made in 2007. Five years later, the drama arrives on DVD and Blu-ray with a whimper, a victim of multiple edits, lawsuits and rumors. The final result, a 150-minute epic, is a paradox: it is simultaneously incredible and a muddled mess.

Does True Blood Season 3 Jump the Shark?

With the passing of The Sopranos, The Wire, Deadwood and other acclaimed series in recent years, HBO was surely pleased to see that audiences welcomed Alan Ball’s True Blood with open arms, tilted necks and gushing veins. The series was an instant audience and critical favorite, striking the right balance between seriousness and humor while still offering plenty of blood, guts, gore, sex, nudity and violence.

True Blood: Season 3 Marketing Apology

The summer TV season heats up on Sunday with the season three premiere of True Blood, starring Anna Paquin. The 12-episode season is, according to Wikipedia, based on the third The Southern Vampire Mysteries novel Club Dead, which means nothing to me since I haven’t read any of the books. But the first two seasons were great fun and there’s nothing else on television except for World Cup soccer – so I’m game.

However, they’ve apparently had a few problems with their marketing for this season. I encourage you to watch this heartfelt apology from HBO.
