I typically try to write reviews for every individual Blu-ray I receive in the mail (well, the good ones), but after a crazy hectic June I came home late last week to find a stack of great movies sitting on my doorstep. Better Late Than Never: Puss in Boots Movie Review

Shrek may have run his course years ago, but his furry Antonio Banderas-sounding friend Puss in Boots gets another life in… Puss in Boots, an animated comedy adventure that is thankfully nothing like Shrek. Funny, witty and original, Puss in Boots is a surprisingly entertaining and fun flick kids, parents and everyone in between will enjoy.

Haywire Is Only Sort of Haywire

Stephen Soderbergh’s experimental action film Haywire packs punch and an exceptional cast, but there is a reason why action movies are done a certain way. While some of the director’s techniques work, others fall flat, resulting in an entertaining but far-from-groundbreaking film.

Puss in Boots Holds Off Tower Heist, Harold and Kumar

The box office battle for first place… really wasn’t much of a battle. After a disappointing $34 million debut for DreamWorks’ Puss in Boots last week – which was at least partially attributed to opening the movie on Halloween weekend – the Antonio Banderas-starring family film bounced back in a big way, earning $33 million from 259 fewer theaters. The cute-but-dangerous cat dropped only 3% from last weekend, bringing its overall total to a more respectable $75 million, based on estimates.
