The 12 Funniest Movies of 2012

January 19th, 2013
funniest-movies-2012

There are all kinds of comedies, some more critic friendly than others. Stupid comedies… critics hate those. Dramatic comedies… boy, do critics eat those up. But what really matters when it comes to comedies? I have very specific criteria: a good comedy has to make me laugh.

American Reunion Hits Blu-Ray, DVD and 57 Other Formats

July 9th, 2012
american-reunion

American Reunion is now available to own, and comes in so many formats half of the Blu-ray cover is devoted to explaining them all. The combo pack includes Blu-Ray, DVD, digital copy and Ultraviolet formats, and I’m pretty sure there is a way to watch it on your watch, too. Funny enough, there’s also an “All-New Movie” sticker on the package, which makes me think Universal is afraid that people will confuse the movie with the original American Pie.

Grassroots Movie Review

June 21st, 2012
grassroots

The high-stakes world of Seattle politics gets the big screen treatment with Grassroots. I’d be lying if I said it was a movie only a Seattleite could love, because Grassroots is a well-acted and entertaining drama – albeit one that fades in the home stretch.

Another Slice of American Pie: American Reunion

April 6th, 2012

If apple pies could run, they would run for cover, because Jim is back for more awkward sexual antics in American Reunion, the long-awaited third theatrical sequel to American Pie no one asked for. Jason Biggs, Chris Klein, Thomas Ian Nicholas and Eddie Kaye Thomas have all returned to show just how little their careers have progressed since the 1999 classic. Despite being a blatant cash grab and by no means a comedy classic, American Reunion has enough laughs and goofy antics to make it worth a trip into the land of nostalgia.

Pies Beware: The American Reunion Red Band Trailer!

Jason Biggs. Porn. Tube socks. American Pie is back.

American Reunion, the fourth movie in the American Pie franchise, comes to theaters April 2012. The entire cast from the original – Jason Biggs, Seann William Scott, Alyson Hannigan, Eugene Levy, Thomas Ian Nicholas, Tara Reid, Chris Klein, Mena Suvari and Jennifer Coolidge – are returning, though “entire” isn’t exactly accurate. Noticeably missing is Shannon Elizabeth, however. That’s a shame.

Movie Review: My Best Friend’s Girl

January 11th, 2009

Kate Hudson and Dane CookMy Best Friend’s Girl arrives on DVD on January 13th, 2009. Here’s my movie review for the romantic comedy:

Dane Cook continues his quest to prove he’s unfunny in My Best Friend’s Girl, a less-crude version of Good Luck Chuck with only a slightly altered premise. In the movie, Cook plays a guy named Tank, who is hired by other men to take their ex-girlfriends on dates and show those women, by being a complete and utter asshole, that their former flames aren’t so bad. So, once again, Cook plays a womanizer who ultimately falls for one of his victims.

Thankfully, My Best Friend’s Girl is no Good Luck Chuck. It isn’t hilarious, it isn’t a must-see, but it is mildly entertaining and easy to watch. It also doesn’t self-destruct the way the aforementioned did, though it isn’t completely clear of a Cook-meltdown that seems to be commonplace in his films.
