Review: ‘The Impossible’ Hits DVD Like a Tsunami

April 23rd, 2013

Naomi Watts cries, screams and whimpers in The Impossible, a foolishly titled movie about a very serious incident involving Thailand, the year 2004 and a tsunami that killed hundreds of thousands of people. At times powerful, at other times drawn out and melodramatic, The Impossible is an engaging if overeager drama.

Dream House Is Not So Dreamy

There’s nothing scarier than a horror movie starring big-name actors, because more often than not they completely miss the mark. Dream House is no exception, with Daniel Craig, Naomi Watts and Rachel Weisz delivering some major star power, but the production itself giving nothing back to the poor bastards who paid money to watch this less-than-dreamy movie.

A year ago when it was announced that Leonardo DiCaprio would team up with director Clint Eastwood to portray former FBI director J. Edgar Hoover, the buzz was earsplitting. Funny Games Movie Review

June 11th, 2008

Funny Games DVDI’ve posted a movie review for the 2008 remake Funny Games, starring Naomi Watts, Tim Roth and Michael Pitt. The movie is directed by Michael Haneke, who also directed the original Austrian version ten years earlier. Anyone know why he decided to remake his own movie? I don’t know. Even worse, the movie is a shot-by-shot remake, meaning if you’ve seen one you’ve seen the other, save some subtitles (assuming the original is indeed subtitled).

I haven’t seen the original Funny Games, so thankfully I was able to enjoy this one a lot. It is depraved, disturbing and shocking – read my Funny Games movie review here.
