A Late ‘Safe House’ Movie Review

February 15th, 2012
safe-house

Denzel Washington has trained hard to become an unstoppable force. His not-so-secret secret: team with a younger white dude. Training Day, costarring a perennially pale Ethan Hawke, won him an Oscar, and Unstoppable , which also starred Chris Pine, showed he can be more than just a mid-ranged box office force. Denzel’s latest venture Safe House also stars Ryan Reynolds, and the results are explosive in more ways than one: it’s an instant hit – one of Denzel’s biggest debuts of his career – and an entertaining, fast-paced action movie.

These are the ten most disappointing movies of 2011.

Ryan Reynolds is Green Lantern

July 10th, 2009

Ryan Reynolds is shirtlessRyan Reynolds, who has had roles in Blade: Trinity and X-Men Origins: Wolverine, will play the title character in the upcoming Green Lantern movie, DC Comics’ latest attempt to cash in on one of its superhero franchises.

The casting comes as a bit of a surprise, as momentum – at least in the rumor mill – seemed to be leaning toward Bradley Cooper. Reynolds, Cooper, Jared Leto and Justin Timberlake all had been in contention, but Reynolds, who will be the first person to play a major character for both a Marvel and DC movie, will play the ring-wielding superhero.
