In May, Universal Pictures released a sci-fi action movie with a $260 million budget with the misguided thinking that people wanted to watch a cheesy movie based on a nearly unrelated classic Hasbro game. This said movie, which will remain nameless until the next sentence, earned $300 million worldwide, but after marketing and print costs are taken into account, it can only be described as a massive flop.

Look at Oliver Stone’s career from one side and you see a string of celebrated classics. Platoon. Wall Street. Born on the Fourth of July. The Doors. JFK. Natural Born Killers. Impressive. Look at his 21st century career, however, and it paints a different picture. Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps. W. World Trade Center. Alexander. A couple mediocre films. A few disasters.

Universal Pictures recently released the movie trailer for Oliver Stone’s upcoming action-thriller Savages, about two seemingly peaceful drug dealers who go on a rampage when their shared girlfriend (played by scorching-as-always Blake Lively) is kidnapped by a Mexican drug cartel.
