Movie Review

Ah, the crusades. A pleasant time where ignorant Christians killed Muslims because the Muslims were fighting to gain control of land that was rightfully theirs. No, I'm not talking about now - I'm talking about the middle ages, where a blacksmith somehow becomes a knight and strategist and defends Jerusalem from those evil terrorists - er, Muslims. As "Ed" has pointed out I doubt there is going to be much history in this movie. I understand they're saying its about the "seige" of jerusalem? How about the "recapture" of Jerusalem since it was taken over in 1099 and its inhabitants massacred by the Crusaders. I understand Salah al-Din Yusuf (Saladin) supposedly thanks Balian for introducing him to chivalry. Yeah right, try the other way around. Chivalry, believe it or not, was an Islamic idea imported into Christian Europe.
Im not sure about this but I also here that the Muslims massacre the inhabitants of Jerusalem in the end. Once agian, no historical basis. Salah al-Din even came to an agreement with Richard III whereby he would allow safe passage of Christians into Jerusalem.
I hate when people say its just a movie. God forbid a movie about an historical event be.... well i dunno, historically accurate?
And as for orlando bloom as an actor, gimme a break haha.

It’s strange how one can judge a movie that one has not seen.
“I understand…….supposedly”
“I’m not sure about this but I also here……”
I’m looking forward to it. If it’s going to be half as entertaining as gladiator, it will be worth it. Ridley Scott is indeed the master of the modern epic.
