"Priest," a western-fused post-apocalyptic thriller, is set in an alternate world -- one ravaged by centuries of war between man and vampires. The story revolves around a legendary Warrior Priest (Paul Bettany) from the last Vampire War who now lives in obscurity among the other downtrodden human inhabitants in walled-in dystopian cities ruled by the Church. When his niece (Lily Collins) is abducted by a murderous pack of vampires, Priest breaks his sacred vows to...

Movie Review

Paul Bettany is at it again, trying to be a Goody Two-Shoes by saving humanity from eternal damnation in Priest, on DVD and Blu-Ray this week. If Priest looks a lot like 2009's Legion, which starred Bettany as an angel trying to save humanity from eternal damnation, you're not alone. And like Legion, Priest falls short of its intended goal, whatever it was, seemingly satisfied with being mediocre.

Frankly, I am getting bored with cheesy ideas vampirism cover most movies/series nowadays that work like plagirization,

vampires in Priest are at least different. They are nothing like human and literally vicious. The brightest moment is their first rise attack during the sunset.

The overall apocalyptic concept of Priest added up for me. It is like The Rite meets Resident Evil. I love it so much!

About the script, it doesn't really bad at all. Simple but yet understandable. Don't forget, Priest isn't a thriller like Davinci Code either. during the railway station where the priestess mentioned

the priest about defying churches rules, doesnt mean he defy God. What an insightful message I can see here,

"It is men against religion, not the God"

Fast pace sparkled with action packs alongside complication in between priest (bettany) and priestess (maggie q)keep me glued on seat.

And lastly, the strongest point sum up all, is Paul Bettany's acting. He is like the 2nd generation of Milla Jovovich aka Alice in Resident Evils. Bettany aka. Priest...

For me, Priest will get A+ if it is not because of the slight flaws in 3D translation effects. The rest is okay.

I would certainly recommend this movie to to others. And will buy the DVD as well!

Please Screen Gems, make me the sequels.... Priest II, III .....

Trailer is nice, but it would be nicer if you plugged 'Tourniquet' from Evanescence.
