Movie Review
Angelina Jolie is the only true female action star. She can sell it and people will buy it. She can be sexy and tough-as-nails at the same time. She has a knack for choosing high-adrenaline pictures. And yet, when you examine her resume, Jolie has yet to lead an action film that has cemented its place in the lore of the genre. Salt, her newest action movie, doesn't change matters. In fact, it is largely a huge disappointment.

July 10, 2011I found the movie a profound disappointment - mainly because of the poor plot and the holes in it, as the review above notes.
I cannot understand how a director or filmmaker can allow such an incomplete mess to be released. If a novel or short story ended that way it would be blasted by the critics. Yet I've seen several positive reviews of this fiasco.
The greatest disappointment - I won't bother to go into the plot holes, which shatter any attempt at suspended disbelief - is the unsatisfactory ending, which leaves one with the impression that the director or script writer simply ran out of ideas - or budget. Since the film is so predictable it's inconceivable they couldn't think of something - practically anything would have been better than the forced, ludicrous ending they went with.
The characters too need more depth and density - they don't develop at all from beginning to end. Just for comparison, the most fleeting expression on Jason Bourne's face tells us more about the character than Jolie's entire performance.
Finally the ending leaves one with the feeling of having been cheated - or at the very least having wasted one's time.

December 27, 2010We largely disagree with the review above. My wife ALWAYS knows what will happen in a plot and this time she was totally stumped. The extra character development is not always needed. We'd rather get on with it and see what happens...who gets that deep in real life any way. We can tell Salt is going back and forth between what she wants and what she feels obligated to do. We give this an A and wish we'd seen it in the theater. BTW, thank you for filming part of it in Albany NY!

July 9, 2010I can't wait to see Angelina in this role. So glad it's not Tom Cruise like it was meant to be.
She's going be a whole lot of kick-ass in this thing! http://ow.ly/29lVu
