Two friends, Joe Simpson and Simon Yates, ascend the dangerous west face of Siula Grande in the Peruvian Andes, only to have their descent almost kill them. After Simpson's left leg is shattered, Yates attempts to lower him 300-feet at a time, but unknowingly drops him over the edge of a vertical cliff. After two hours of holding on, Yates cuts the rope and Simpson falls far into a crevice, with no hope of climbing...
