The Covenant (2006) - Movie Review
Witches brew: Start with beautiful young actors and actresses; add a bad screenplay and horrible dialogue; mix together a weak plot, poor directing and outdated special effects. Simmer for 90+ minutes and you will have the recipe of a supernatural drama known as The Covenant. The 4 brothers of Ipswich hide a deep secret not known to their friends and fellow schoolmates; they possess strange, magical powers, which, once manifested, can make them stronger than ever.
The Covenent teaches me one lesson in life: LOYALTY. I pledge that I will not recommend this movie to anyone and I will form a team of followers if need be.
The Covenent had the makings of a promising supernatural movie, but its potential was soon deflated. The only thing that kept me from walking out of the theater was the hope that a meaningful message would be tied to the movie along with the rich history it’s trying to incorporate: the Salem Witch hunt. If you were expecting to see something as exhilarating as The Craft save your time and money; the only thrill you will get is the joy of watching this movie burn at the stake.
