The Waterboy Movie Review
Adam Sandler is best known for such movies as Happy Gilmore and Billy Madison. He is a genius in his own right, and The Waterboy, his latest achievement, furthers his prestige. His character's weird accent is pretty cheesy, but his stuttering, baby-style language adds to the comedy. Academy Award Winner Kathy Bates and Henry Winkler (Fonzi from "Happy Days") also are a delight to see, along Fairuza Bak, who is incredibly sexy in this movie. With Adam Sandler doing the script, and a collection of some talented and well-known actors and actresses, The Waterboy is a brainless but fun comedy.
Don't even for a moment watch this movie if you are one of those people that complains about a movie having no plot. This movie has no plot, except for Bobby goes from being a Waterboy to a star tackler, and he gets to see a girl's breasts for the first time. There is no real drama, and any compassionate scenes are cheesy at best. This is purely a half-slapstick comedy, with Adam Sandler doing what he does.
I liked Happy Gilmore more, but The Waterboy definitely made me laugh in some parts. Henry Winkler, Kathy Bates, and Adam Sandler are hilarious; they were cast perfectly. Fairuza Balk does her job well (being the sexy girlfriend) but her actual character is pretty cheesy. Oh well.
If you want some simple laughs, check out The Waterboy.
