Tim & Eric's Billion Dollar Movie Movie Review
I got invited to a free press screening to Tim and Eric's Billion Dollar Movie, but it was during the workday. The thought of leaving work and going to watch this idiotic-looking movie was too much to bear. So, instead, I spent $10 to watch it On Demand. That is ten dollars and an hour and a half I will never, ever get back.
Tim and Eric's Billion Dollar Movie star Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim, who have conspired on a variety of ventures I've never heard of including "Tim and Eric's Awesome Show, Great Job!" and "Tim and Eric Nite Live", as filmmakers who flee to a downtrodden Midwestern mall after they waste a billion dollars of someone else's money making a three-minute film starring a man who they thought was Johnny Depp. The plot really doesn't matter, however, as the movie relies on completely random jokes that don't make any sense.
Somehow, Heidecker and Wareheim managed to blackmail Will Ferrell, Zach Galifianakis and John C. Reilly into having significant parts in the movie. The presence of those three actors is its only saving grace, but even Reilly's absurd performance isn't enough to save Tim and Eric's Billion Dollar Movie from being what it is...
A complete waste of time.
Heidecker and Wareheim apparently have their fans as the movie currently holds a 6.6/10 on IMDB. There might have been a time when I would have appreciated their humor - somewhere between the ages of 10 and 12 - but that time has long since past. While there are a fair amount of moments to laugh at - laughing at the peer stupidity of the movie, at the stupidity of yourself for watching the movie all the way through, at the fact that your friend's wife is cursing nonstop about how disappointed she is that she has two close friends who are giggling like little schoolgirls at completely inane things - Tim and Eric's Billion Dollar Movie is just a sloppy, painful, cringe-inducing mess.
The fact that it's intentionally sloppy, painful and cringe inducing offers only a mild reprieve. Tim and Eric's Billion Dollar Movie is one of the worst films I have ever seen.
