Waking Ned Devine Movie Review
Every once in a while, a movie comes along so funny, so full of wit and humor, and so creatively done that it tops all other movies. If you've read some of my other reviews, you're probably expecting me to say 'But this isn't one of them.' But it is. Waking Ned Devine is one of the most brilliant comedies I've ever seen. It is superior to any American comedy, especially those of today where all they seem to be based on is loud-mouthed comedians-made-actors. There are fewer and fewer really good comedies out there, where the mix of drama and comedy is just right, and the movie is well-made.
The most recent comparison is The Full Monty, which I think was only half funny at best, and before that, The Englishman Who Went Up a Hill but Came Down a Mountain. Waking Ned Devine tops both of these, both with realistic drama and comedy. The actors are superb and the comedy is laugh-out-loud hilarious. The nude men riding the motorcycle is just awesome, and the ending is just shockingly funny.
The reviews about the best movies seem to be the shortest, and this is the shortest I've written in a while. All I can say about Waking Ned Devine is that I hope it gets an Oscar nomination for Most Original Screenplay, and other awards, and I assure that anyone who goes to see this will not be disappointed.
