Woman on Top Movie Review
Beauty alone cannot make a movie good, and that is what Woman on Top tries to get by with. Starring the dazzling Penelope Cruz, Woman on Top proves... Well, it proves nothing. It's just a really bad movie.
Cruz is a Brazilian chef who gets fed up with her husband and moves to San Fransisco, where she meets a man who gets her a job on a cooking television show. Things get slightly more complicated when her husband shows up trying to win her back, but she will have nothing to do with it.
The whole movie is just ridiculous. First, the movie teases us with a few sexy scenes between Cruz and Murilo Benicio, suggesting what the title suggests, that this movie is going to have lots of sex. That's fine by me. Except for Woman on Top has barely any sex, although I really don't think that would have mattered. The entire plot is stupid, the script is stupid, the acting is pretty bad, and there are many "dream" sequences or something of the sort that are just too weird to explain. Furthermore, the movie is confused on who the love interest of Cruz is supposed to be, since for most of the movie it is suggested that she is eventually going to fall into the arms of her producer, but then, suddenly, at the end, things change directions and she goes back to her husband.
I am pretty sure they remade the ending. However, they really needed to remake the entire movie, because Woman on Top is one stupid piece of crap.
