You've Got Mail (1998) - Movie Review
Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks have appeared in several films together, including the stupid Joe and the Volcano and the romantic Sleepless in Seattle. You've Got Mail can most easily be compared to Sleepless in Seattle, and in pretty much every case, is better. You've Got Mail is funnier, cuter, and more romantic, and best of all, the characters actually meet several times throughout the movie, instead of just at the end.
Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks are excellent, the perfect choices for their roles. Their realistic acting and impressive facial expressions make the film all that more smooth, and their wit adds a special humor that wouldn't have been found in the same movie with different actors. The script also makes the movie funny, and there are several parts that actually make you laugh out loud.
It's not much different than Sleepless in Seattle, except for that there is a lot more interaction between the two starring characters, which is good. The character development is notable, especially how they are continually transforming from hating each other to loving each other.
There are a few boring parts, but mainly You've Got Mail is an excellent romantic comedy. Both men and women will like it, although the women will be more into the sentimental parts of it.
