Batman (1989) - Movie Synopsis & Plot

Their footsteps were miniscule amongst the dark alleys of Gotham City. Their smiles were shrouded by the shadows. And their screams were drowned out by gunshots. In one instant, child Bruce Wayne watched as his parents fell to the damp cement, their bloody bodies lifeless.

Years later, Gotham City is a world of crime. Mob bosses rule the underworld and the police are helpless. Criminals run wild and free, preying on innocent victims. But, amidst it all, there is a savior. He is the fear in every man's heart. He is the light in the darkness. He is the bat in the man. He is Batman. And he is about to wage war on crime.

But then there's a Joker. A twisted, chaotic man, his features destroyed by the chemicals he made, his brain bent on domination. He is extremely deadly and crazy and will do what anything to get what he wants.  Including a woman.

Her name is Vicki Vale. Photographer, cunning and beautiful, she is determined to learn who the man is behind the bat. But she also wants to crack the deadly code that the Joker has unleashed upon the city, killing people who use simple products such as lipstick and shampoo. Unfortunately, she has dug to deep. She has caught the attention of the Joker himself; he has become infatuated with her. And then there's Batman... she knows more about him than she thinks.

But the ultimate showdown is about to occur between the two most mysterious people in the city. Their battle won't be fought for the city, though; it will be for revenge.
