Contact (1997) - Movie Synopsis & Plot
Uniting the world and splitting nations, the message offered hope, or destruction. The transmission showed a small segment of Hitler, one of the first broadcasts on television. The choosing of Hitler as a contact message immediately raised controversy between scientists, churchmen, and skinheads. But, something else existed inside the transmission: Blueprints. Blueprints for a machine capable of intergalactic travel.
Ellie feels she has deserved the right to be the first one to travel in the device but others think she shouldn't go. Ellie believes purely in science, not in God, and the government feels that whoever goes as the Ambassador of Earth should be faithful to a higher being. Beliefs questioned and new aspects of ideology discovered, Ellie and the rest of the world wait for the moment of truth: Contact.
