Crimson Tide (1995) - Movie Synopsis & Plot

A Russian fanatic has seized control of a military base housing nuclear weapons. Threatening to destroy the US and Japan, militaries around the world take action, preparing to deploy their own nuclear missiles. The USS Alabama, a nuclear submarine, sets out, prepared to destroy the fanatic's missiles at any cost. As they receive their final set of instructions, with less than an hour remaining, however, they are interrupted by a Russian attack. The message fragmented, they are not sure what to make of it, and the two senior officers have conflicting ideas. The captain wants to fire anyway; the first officer wants to confirm the message.
