Deep Rising - Movie Synopsis & Plot
From the bottomless depths of the South China Sea, gruesome creatures surface to attack and cannibalize the passengers on a luxury cruise liner. With swift and deadly precision, these voracious serpents swarm through every deck and passageway, devouring all living things in sight, and transforming the vessel into a floating chamber of horrors. For the few terrified survivors remaining on board who are able to elude the bone-crushing forces, a living nightmare awaits them at every turn.
Trapped in the middle of nowhere and stalked by the relentless invaders that have entwined themselves throughout the entire ship, time is running out for the last of the human prey, including Finnegan (TREAT WILLIAMS), jewel thief Trillian (FAMKE JANSSEN), the Captain (DERRICK O'CONNOR), the ship's owner, Canton (ANTHONY HEALD), and Pantucci (KEVIN J. O'CONNOR). As the doomed ship slowly sinks into the murky waters, Finnegan and his crew hurry to pursue their one chance to escape the bloodthirsty rampage, in Hollywood Pictures' action thriller, "Deep Rising."
"Deep Rising" is a roller coaster ride, a life-and-death journey to escape terrifying sea creatures that have come from the ocean floor to infest the Argonautica, one of the largest luxury liners in the world.
Racing towards the cruise ship is the Saipan, captained by resourceful mercenary John J. Finnegan (Treat Williams), his mechanic (Kevin J. O'Connor) and first mate (Una Damon). When they moor their crippled vessel against the Argonautica and clamber aboard, they discover gruesome evidence that something hideous has attacked the ship. The decks are pooled with blood. The air is thick with a deafening silence. It is a ghost ship. Few survivors remain. And as the Argonautica sinks slowly into the murky waters, the man-eating creatures attack relentlessly, snatching the remaining survivors one by one. Time is running out. Finnegan and his crew must fight off the deadly creatures, knowing they have a very slim chance to escape the ship alive.
