Devil in a Blue Dress (1995) - Movie Synopsis & Plot

1948. Los Angeles. While the city is on its way up, Easy Rawlins is on his way down. Though he's the only black in town with a house, he has no job to pay for that house. However, when a job is offered to him by a mysterious man, he doesn't hesitate in saying yes. Upon accepting the job, he is told to find Daphne Monet, a woman known to mingle in the bad side of town.

As his quest for the woman continues, Easy realizes he is in over his head. The men who hired him may not be as legal as they said, dirty cops are watching his every move, ready to strike, and murders are mounting, with Easy being the prime suspect. However, Easy knows that the only way to escape the mess is by finishing the job, no matter what it takes.
