L.A. Confidential - Movie Synopsis & Plot
Los Angeles, 1950's. It starts with a homicide, a robbery gone bad. The new rookie on the force, Ed Exley, takes on the case, hunting down the alleged Negro killers. However, another, more ruthless cop, Bud White, is hunting them for another reason. His ex-partner was killed at the restaurant. But what if this wasn't merely a homicide? After the case is closed, Exley and White are still hunting for the culprits. Exley has brought in the top man of the town, the eminent Jack Vincennes, who also serves as technical advisor with Sid Hudgeons, the editor of a celebrity tabloids. However, when Jack is killed, Exley realizes that something is awry, something that may involve his own Captain, Dudley Smith. Then there's the wealthy social figure Pierce Patchett, who creates celebrity look-a-like hookers. Suddenly, Exley and White find themselves trapped together against unspeakable odds, with no one to turn to and no one to trust. Everyone can be corrupt in their line of work.
