Practical Magic (1998) - Movie Synopsis & Plot

They were two girls with a gift, and a curse. Raised by their aunts to be witches, they were considered outcasts by the township. They knew how to cast spells and practice magic, yet their ability was also a curse. Any man they ever loved would end up dead.

Now grown women, Sally and Gillian Owens lead very different lives. Sally has vowed never to love again, after her husband was struck by a truck, but Gillian lives life openly, traveling from one man to the next without any sense of real love at all.

But when Gillian meets Jimmy, Sally and Gillian will once again be brought together. After they accidentally drug him to death. Fearing prosecution from the police, however, they set out to bring him back to life via magic, no matter what the result. Unfortunately, he, once being resurrected, is not exactly in his right mind and they are forced to kill him again.

Meanwhile, police officer Gary Hallet is looking for Jimmy and stumbles across the two women. Though his job is to find the truth, his heart is looking for love, and neither he nor Sally can deny their feelings.

Unfortunately, Jimmy may still be lurking nearby, desperate to enact revenge on the woman... that killed him twice.
