Saving Private Ryan - Movie Synopsis & Plot
Omaha Beach. D-Day. American soldiers flock to the beach, only to be chopped down by Nazi gunmen. The sound of bullets, explosions, and screams, mixed with the smell of burning flesh and boiling blood is the only thing on everyone's mind. Still, they push on, and soon the victory is theirs. The Allies are making a major breakthrough, forcing the Nazis back hard and fast. But even as the Allies continue to invade Nazi-owned space, Captain John Miller is assigned to a different kind of mission.
His name is Private James Ryan. Not long ago did his mother receive three telegrams stating that his three brothers had been killed in combat. He is the lone survivor. He has just earned his ticket home. But James Ryan is somewhere behind enemy lines. No one knows if he is alive, no one knows where he is; that's what Miller and his squad have been assigned to do. But what gives the military the right to risk the lives of eight men to save one?
