Screamers - Movie Synopsis & Plot
For years, Planet Sirius 6B has been a wasteland. A treacherous battlefield for a ten year war between the NEBs and the Alliance, the air is filled with deadly radiation and the landscape vacant of all trees. Only a collection of buildings stand above it all, most destroyed or abandoned. The rest, a bunker packed with depressed Alliance soldiers, and a command center miles away, housed by the NEBs, remain. For six months, there has been no friction. Until...
Colonel Joseph Hendrickson suspected something was awry when the sole NEB soldier stumbled into camp, carrying a message longing peace. Later that day, a transmission from Earth, from Commander Green, threatened Hendrickson not to do any rash as peace may be on the horizon. And then the civilian transport crashed, carrying Alliance soldiers, and a stash of nuclear warheads, heading for the very planet where the peace was supposed to be taking place. As the only survivor reports, Commander Green was arrested two years prior, and the Alliance was flying to the planet to recover a pocket of uridium, the same material the supposed peace treaties were over.
Realizing that the Alliance had left them for dead, the Colonel and the one survivor of the crash set out across the barren landscape for the NEB base, wishing peace... wishing for a way off the planet. All around them the Screamers watch... mechanical devices that were created by the Alliance to take out NEB soldiers. Lethal, they have been allowed to seek out debris to repair and better themselves. They live beneath the ground, multiplying freely... evolving.
And all too late is the Colonel going to realize that the Screamers are not only going after NEBs, but Alliance soldiers as well... And they have just evolved to a new level... to look human.
