Steel (1997) - Movie Synopsis & Plot

John Henry Irons was a military officer overseeing a new generation of weapons: guns that used lasers or sonic blasts to take down the enemy without killing them. But during a routine exercise, one man became overzealous and pushed the weapons beyond their approved capabilities, and the result was the death of a US Senator and the loss of Irons' best friend's legs. The man was dismissed from the army, and John Henry Irons returned home, vowing never again to work with weapons.

Until he witnessed a bank robbery where a street gang used the same weapons he helped test. The military, refusing to believe that their weapons were available to the public, denied any connection between the weapons and themselves. The police were powerless against these new forms of weapons. So John Henry Irons has devised, along with the help of his two closest friends, a suit of steel, equipped with the same weapons the gangs are using, to discover who is dealing the guns and stop them.

But only the weapons dealers know that Steel is working for good, not evil. The police think the Man of Steel, as they call him on the news, is working alongside the gangs, and therefore are trying to track him down. The dealers want him dead, and they may just get their wish...
