Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope (1977) - Movie Synopsis & Plot

The Old Republic fell. In it's place rose the Empire, run by the wicked Emperor Palpatine, a man who's evil never ran dry. His quest: to conquer the galaxy and make the trillions of people on billions of worlds his followers.

But when Princess Leia, diplomatic representative of the Old Republic, is taken prisoner by Darth Vader, accused of supporting the Rebellion, a new war will be waged, that which will decide the outcome of the entire galaxy.

Before she was captured, Princess Leia sent two droids down to the surface of the desert planet Tatooine to get help. They come into the ownership of Luke Skywalker, a boy longing to join the Rebellion, and end up being the result of his family's death. Free, however, Luke sets out to save the Princess. Along with Han Solo and Ben Kenobi, Luke finds himself the only one that can stop the evil Empire once and for all.
