Straight Story. The (1999) - Movie Review
When his brother has a stroke, Farnsworth sets out to reunite with him, but since he doesn't have a car or much money, he takes his trustworthy lawnmower. The thing barely moves, but it will get him there eventually... hopefully.
Farnsworth is funny and honest as the wise yet humble 73-year old. He turns in an Oscar-worthy performance (for which he was commended) and makes us laugh along the way. Whether it just be an expression or a story, Farnsworth works the script perfectly, and he alone drives the movie onwards.
The other noteworthy thing about The Straight Story is director David Lynch, who has built a movie around the character. The camera shots he takes and the music he has chosen is wonderful, complimenting every second of the film.
The Straight Story is a movie for all ages, but adults will like it most. It is one of those overlooked films, but it shouldn't be.
