awsome, by edBy , May 22, 2004i cant wait till it comes out on dvd so i can finally see it and buy it it is got to be the best movie yet made defentilly a A+++ Category: General | Reply Second Time, by TakenBy , April 16, 2004I saw the film for the second time and was even more impressed. The first time, there were too many significances to grasp all of them. The second time, I saw the greed that caused the evil precisely at that hour, and the evil that perpetuated itself so as to cause the mob violence. How typical of humanity, especially when the violence is directed at goodness, mercy and grace. Now, when I see the Christ depicted in ancient to modern art, there's a stark contrast to the reality. I understand why so many people consider Jesus Christ to be a figment of the imagination of the Christians/Believers; instead of realizing that the world experienced the reality of God in it for a brief time, they visualize the weakness of those portrayals of the Christ (the Saviour, the Messiah). God came to show that He exists and paid an enormous price for all in the world. As Jesus says in the film "I make all things new." The film shows the power, the enormity of the power of discipline when Jesus chose not to display His authority in putting a stop to the violence on His person, in effect saying "No," and enabling us all to make our way to an eternity without God. I will see it again, and I know that the third time will be even better. I expect to see and comprehend more of what Mr. Gibson artistically and profoundly put into "The Passion of the Christ." Just as the Bible is filled with symbolism of the times, Mr. Gibson used modern expression that symbolized aspects of the last 12 hours of Christ and all that occurred during those hours to affect eternity for us. I am not at all surprised that The Passion has affected the world. Individuals are seeing the Truth for the first time and have the opportunity to address the mystery of it as it affects them personally. Category: General | Reply To Truth, by Inconsisten yet againBy , April 14, 2004Sigh - i would love to meet you people in real life - the fact that your arguments are again a bit inconsistent not only surprises me but the fact that you bask in your own glory of ignorance just leaves me speechless. There isn't ONE specific version of the bible that has been translated - i'm talking about different VERSIONS (as in different narrations etc). You never really did answer my question about which was the 'REAL' telling of Jesus's story - about his death and dying for our sins. And if it was an impossible task than why did God set such a high marker? If no one can achieve it then how can you discriminate between sucess and failure? All you've done in your so called reply is restate what you 'think' is true - if you've ever had an intellectual argument with anyone, you don't use your own beliefs to support them - you use supporting evidence that is readily understandable by both parties. Using your scriptures and saying : "oh why would Christ have left Eden" doesn't exactly make me go - "hmm yes i guess ur right - why did he do that?", when there is no common belief for their ever having been an eden to begin with. If you want to justify what you've benn mouth-fed from birth and not question it with an open mind then go right ahed - but don't expect 'free-thinkers' to start - *quote-on-quote*- "Signing Up" as well. Category: General | Reply Which One?, by InconsistentBy , April 12, 2004And which bible would that be? Seeing as their are over 5000 versions of the bible (new and old testament inclusive). I would love to see the original scriptures as well - seeing as the first bible was written 300 or so years after the advent of Christ. And the fact that believing in Christ will redeem all my sins (previous and future) seems a bit overly optimistic and an easy way to deny all claim of moral responsibility for our actions. And the fact that many christians (or all even) claim the movie is a bit historically inconsistent boogles the mind. Which is the 'Correct' one then? In my personal opinion - ppl have to stop living in a fantasy world where everything is mouth-fed to them at birth and start thinking for themselves. Category: General | Reply Reader, by TruthBy , April 12, 2004To Inconsistent: Yes, there are many versions of the Bible – all in different languages, different grammatical translations, etc. However, the “original scriptures†are much older than 300 years after Christ’s death. They are the Talmud – the first five books of the Bible, written by Moses and giving the laws by which people were to live. It is in Genesis, when God’s creations (Adam & Eve) THOUGHT FOR THEMSELVES and ate of the fruit to which they had been specifically denied, that the promise of a second Adam, Christ, was first given. Along with that promise from God came the option of FREE CHOICE: Salvation will be for eve-ryone or you can reject it. Without mincing words, we all are sinners and do not live perfect lives. Therefore, the promise of salvation covers us all, as long as we believe and attempt to live blameless lives. YES, it’s an impossible task. But, if it were possible, what would be the need for us to have God, Christ and even to have ever left Eden? For me, believing in Christ’s saving grace and spending eternity in Heaven is NOT a fantasy world. Sign me: A believer who has been mouth-fed the Word of God since birth and still thinks for myself, asking questions of what I read in the Scriptures and thanking God daily for what he has given me. PS: Some of the New Testament books were written within 20-40 years of Christ’s death; all were written within 100 years of his crucifixion. Category: General | Reply Truth., by KellyBy , April 11, 2004I am a true believer so some of you may wish to stop reading right now, and that's fine. After reading some responses to the movie, I can understand where some of these people are coming from. They just don't have the same point of view that I do. The reality of the events in the movie doesn't mean as much to them. I didn't really want to see the movie at first, but my friends convinced me that it would be "good for me." Some people have posted messages making fun of those who have been "touched" by the film. I do not appreciate those who make light of the emotion I as a Christian feel when I am reminded of the pain my Lord went through for me. I do not condemn those who say they felt nothing or were offended by what they saw in the movie. Who am I to condemn anyone? But I do know that what I felt was extreme sorrow and overwhelming gratitude for the truth portrayed in "The Passion." I'm not saying that it was completely accurate, but that wasn't the point of the movie. The point was to show people what Christ went through for each and every one of us. I do hope that anyone who reads this message realizes that Jesus's death on the cross was the single most important event in history and that it will have more impact on your life than you will ever know. By the way, the whole, completely unadulterated truth can only be found in one place. The Bible. Check it out. Category: General | Reply ., by CharmaineBy , April 10, 2004It was hard for me to watch, I couldn't bear the suffering. I liked the movie. Although, a movie like this isn't all too necessary to make for people to realize the truth. It's a good movie for those who don't know or are not of the Christian religion. Category: General | Reply Setting the record straight, by KashaBy , April 5, 2004This is in response to the reviewer who stated that this movie is breaking a commandment. Exodus 20:4 does say "You shall not make for yourself a carved image - any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth;" but it also goes on in 20:5 to say "you shall not bow done to them nor serve them." If you look at this verse carefully, it basically states to not create anything from heaven, earth, or hell and worship it. So unless you are going to this movie and worshipping the screen, there is nothing Biblically wrong with The Passion of the Christ. Category: General | Reply moving, by hokayBy , April 4, 2004it was really moving and touching Category: General | Reply To the Luke Warm Church, by Gods WarningBy , April 2, 2004Look at the Churchs response to this Catholic apostate movie. Do you really think it is accurate? Did Satan (played by a woman) really temp Christ in Gethemine? Did Mary really soak up Christ's blood with those towels? Did Jesus really look to Mary for strength when undergoing torture? Etc etc etc. Most of this extrabiblical rubbish came from 'The Delorous Passion' A book written by an astral travelling mystic nun who had visions. Check it out if you don't believe me. Did anyone notice the prominence of Mary who with her special powers i.e. sensing something is wrong the first night, "knowing where Christ was in the underground prison, and being the only one outside of Christ Himself to be able to see Satan as he/she walks among the crowds unnoticed. Wake up people. Stop having your ears tickled. There's someone important at the door. Please let him in! Stop breaking the 2nd Commandment. Exodus 20:4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Acts 17:29 Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man’s device. 30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent: Silver, may I remind you is one of the main components in photography. If you did see the movie (In ignorance of breaking this commandment you are called to repent) Remember He is a jealous God and a consuming fire. Deuteronomy 4:24 And if you just don't care. Maybe you are just not saved. This is the gospel according to Mel Gibson, Catholics and Hollywood Don't be a victim. Category: General | Reply |
