January 6, 2007This movie ok at first and but becomes real cheesy and when you hear the voice of the dragon it seems not intimidating at all. Even though it is a female dragon, you could at least have a bolder female for the voice like Lucy Lu or Angelina Jolie. I talked to people who read the book who told me after the movie that left out more than half the book and seemed like the author had no say in the script and production in the movie. The ending to the movie seemed unfulfilling and you might think that be surprised by the ending because it seems like the middle or climax of the plot.

December 22, 2006Wow. This movie is nothing like the book. I can understand some of the things that were changed, but many were just unneeded.
*Danger!*
*Spoilers Ahead*
They skimped on the plot to save money and time. Two entire cities were removed from the story, and another was slightly changed so they could introduce the Angela character there instead.
The whole plot seemed rushed. One thing would happen and they would rush off to a new place, never bothering to explain where it was or why they needed to go there.
The final battle is NOTHING like in the book. There is free time for Eragon to explore the Varden/Dwarf city. He gets there and BAM! the final battle begins almost a minute later, the same day.
Overall, the movie was 90 minutes of enjoyable actiony goodness IF you haven't read the book. If you have and can seperate the two, you'll be able to tolerate the movie. If you're a diehard fan, I suggest pretending the movie wasn't even made.

December 16, 2006I tried to convince myself on the ride home that I liked the movie simply because I loved the books, but it didn't work. I understand making a book into a fill is hard, but they killed everything else Saphira looked nothing like described she has btight blue color in the book and in the movie she looks like she has been rolling in mud. Note to anyone planning on making Eldest into a movie. Take the time and budget that is required for a good film. Poor Saphira looked like a flying chicken whats with all the feathers? And instead of the Urgals being monsters like in the book they are fat, bald, bearded men with face paint whats up with that? Aria didn't even have pointy ears man isnt she an elf? No dwarfs anywhere they were replaced by one guy with a Scotsh accent. Someone needs to watch lord of the rings thats what Dwarfs,Elves, and monsters look like. I did like the Razac somewhat and the final battle with Eragon and the shade was cool. But I think thats were the whole budget went because the giant dwarf city was 99% digital from Eragon flying around and 1% set with some logs and a cave? Man and what about the adult stuff I mean PG we could have at least gone PG13 Lord of the Rings made big bucks didn't it? There is more than just a 8-12 year old audiance interested in this show. Ok off my soup box but please if you make the next movie get a better budget and director get some pointers from lord of the rings and take the time it takes to make a block buster and build the set and if the movies 3 hours long its ok whats with 100 minutes how are going to do a book justice with that? maybe involve the auther that would be a good idea to since he know what works. PLEASEEEEE you can still save us with two final good movies we will wait we love the books Fire everyone and start over and PAY FOR SOME TALENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

December 16, 2006I do not know where to begin. I guess I shall start with what I liked. Nothing. Ok, now on to what I didn't like. I know you would kind of expect the book and the movie to be somewhat related being that they shared a title and the movie is supposedly based on the book. The story itself was butchered to the point where there is no continuity. All the characters are not developed at all and nothing is explained. It is as if the movie is expecting everyone to have read the book in order to understand the plot. Those of us who have had the good fortune to have experienced the book are sitting there wondering why the screen writer chose to ignore everything about the book that made it good. Then of course there is the whole matter of the look and feel of the world. Urgals equal monsters with horns in the book. The movie gives us bearded men in face paint. If for no other reason than that I would say this is a half hearted attempt to capture on screen what the author was able to do on paper. Some would argue books are always better than movies. To them I would say yes, I agree and invite them to watch Lord of the rings or Harry potter. Now that is how a screen adaptation of a book should be done. Thank you and good night.

December 14, 2006I read the book and it was great. It influence me to be a author even more. However, the movie seems not to be that good. I have read other comments and the movie is to fast pace and the actors are not very good. If you read the book dont watch the movie. You will be disappointed.
