Valkyrie (2008) - Synopsis
Superstar Tom Cruise heads an international cast as Col. Claus von Stauffenberg, the aristocratic German officer who led the heroic attempt to bring down the Nazi regime and end the war by planting a bomb in Hitler's bunker. The "July 20 Plot" on Hitler's life is one of the most heroic but least known episodes of World War Two. Severely wounded in combat, Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg returns from Africa to join the German Resistance and help create Operation Valkyrie, the complex plan that will allow a shadow government to replace Hitler's once he is dead. But fate and circumstance conspire to thrust Stauffenberg from one of many in the plot to a double-edged central role. Not only must he lead the coup and seize control of his nation's government... He must kill Hitler himself.

November 10, 2009it was a great movie, but i dont give it 100% for this reason,
when the characters talked, there was little to no german language or accent in it, and it really felt like you were watchin U.S soldiers assasinating our own guys,
it was a good movie. . .if you like suspense, there was a lot of waiting, but then again, it was hard enough to get within 500 meters of hitler himself, right?
i give it a 8 out of 10.

February 4, 2009I would recommend this movie as the suspense factor is very much present and is made much more so due to the fact that it really happened. Unfortunately we dont really get the full sense of tragedy that is so much a part of history. We all have a sense of how all of our lives would have changed had the assassination attempt been successful. After all who hasnt been affected by the Holocaust and the Second World War and its aftermath?
We view the events as they happen sequentially however we do not get a real sense of the personalities involved and what they really stand for. Tom Cruise can be a terrific actor yet he is not altogether convincing in this role. Its hard to picture him as a German soldier and not just an outsider and somewhat idealistic bystander.
Its still an interesting movie and worth seeing. Phyllis Hartt

November 3, 2008This is a great film historically and for the most part the acting is superb, but why was there not a German accent implemented in Tom Cruises character?
I thoroughly enjoyed Valkyrie subject matter. I would have liked to see a better character in Tom Cruise but other than that it was great!
I HYPED Valkyrie on EverHYPE and scored it 93%, which I think is very accurate.
