Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter (1984) - Movie Review

Paramount recently sent me Friday the 13th Part IV, V and VI, asking me to spend a good chunk of the weekend reviewing one of the worst franchises ever made. I willingly obliged, continuing to fool myself into thinking that "they can't be that bad."

Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter, the fourth segment that one, in hindsight, truly does wish was the final chapter, is downright lousy. Taking place shortly after the third movie, which in itself was immensely painful (and not in a good way), this one finds Jason escaping from the morgue without any explanation and returning to Crystal Lake to inflict more murders. Of course, he doesn't expect that he'll run into the likes of young Corey Feldman, who later in the year would upgrade himself to The Goonies.

Not much can be said about this travesty, other than it is immensely cheesy and not even remotely scary. Having watched three Friday the 13th movies over the course of the last day and a half, they have all started to blend together, but I recall a lot of not-so-gruesome deaths culminating in a cheesy scene at the end where Feldman dresses up like Jason to confuse him. At least there is a decent amount of nudity, thankfully none of it involving Crispin Glover.

The payoff, is, at least, seeing Jason's head sliding down the machete that has impaled his fragile skull.

Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter is a pretty God-awful horror movie, and not much more needs to be said about it.

This movie is lonely because people have neglected it and not written kind things about it. Please help this movie feel better about itself and write a comment or review now.
