The Prince of Egypt (1998) - Movie Review

I am not a religious person but I liked The Prince of Egypt. It had a good story and, even better, great art direction.

Unlike Disney films, The Prince of Egypt suffered hardly any modifications for the good of the little children. There were were no talking animals, the main characters looked more realistic than Disney's, and the artwork and direction are comparable. The animators did take some shortcuts in some scenes, but nothing really notable. The first fifteen minutes and the last fifteen minutes were extraordinary in terms of graphics, even though this was a cartoon. Most obvious was the water effects; the water looks real. The backdrops of Egypt were terrific in every sense, from the Sphinx to the Pyramids to the slaves.

The movie also did a good job not to immortalize Moses as an immortal but as a man. He made mistakes through the movie and he was not perfect; he was just doing the will of God. Moses is an important step in religious history, but The Prince of Egypt does not dramatize him to the point of nausea. If the movie had been loaded with religious sub themes from beginning to end, I would have hated the film, but luckily, most of the movie deals with the person, and then with him freeing the Hebrew people.

The Prince of Egypt had some great animations and most people, whether religious or not, can find a way to like this movie.

This movie is lonely because people have neglected it and not written kind things about it. Please help this movie feel better about itself and write a comment or review now.
