Movie Review

Grade: F Ever since The Blair Witch Projects broke records, the movie industry has been more willing to allow low-budget horror movies to hit the big screen. It's amazing what you can do with a low budget, and it is also amazing that Session 9 is able to take a good concept and screw it up. Read the full movie review

Everyone is entitled to there opinion and on a few key points I must agree with your criticisms of Session 9. Some of the chracters were ill-defined and I think that the session tpaes weren't as well tied into the plot as they could of been. Having said that, I think that your overall view of the film as confusing and not scary may be somewhat justified, but only because you are looking at the film as a horror movie. Quite simply put, it isn't. I feel its main aim is to disturb and not horrify the viewer. Good films should leave you thinking about them long after the credits haved rolled, this film certainly achieves that, you have to THINK, and that is something that modern movies rarely ask you to do. One last point - I disagree with another post on this page which claims that the changes undergone by the character Gordon are supposed to be represented by the multiple personalities of Mary. They aren't, the tape is there to do two things, a) point out that anyone can snap, at any time, for the most trivial reason (ie being burnt, get it?) and b) to hint that the influences of the asylum have a hand in Gordon's downfall (quote "Where do you live Simon?" "I live in the weak and wounded....Doc"
