Movie Review

Grade: C+ Michael Crichton's novel finally hits the big screen with superb actors, great graphics, and horrifying results! The external scenes were really filmed under water, which added to the realism, and the sea animals looked spectacular. The story was compelling and original, though it seemed to mesh two potentially different could-be books together. The American spaceship is from the future, obviously, but the sphere is alien. The whole American spaceship thing is just an add-on story, something that should have been justified in it's own book. The ending was also really lame, and very unbelievable, as they just "forget" the sphere with their newfound powers. Sphere is good up to the denouement which just utterly sucks.
