Movie Review
It's a race against time in Timeline, the new action film based on the bestselling novel by Michael Crichton. The book is one of my all time favorites, which means that I had pretty high expectations going into this film... despite the fact that the starring role was given to Paul Walker. Full movie review »

April 14, 2004As a history teacher for the NYC BOE, I had hoped that this movie would encourage students to look at history as a time traveler....particulary medieval history. The movie failed to bring to life all the rich history that took place during this time and seemed to showcase "popular young actors" in parts that did not seem to suit them. I felt that Gerard Butler carried the movie as the professor, but little else was really interesting. Suddenly, medieval times appear to have not been so interesting. I would "fail" this movie for failure to deliver the goods.

January 6, 2004Compared to the book, this is a truely awful film. But as a stand alone popcorn flick, it's moderately entertaining. The beginning sucked, but the action starts it kick into gear about 20 minutes into the film (which is pretty impressive and true to the book). Not really recommended until video. Read the book instead. A high "C."
