Movie Review

Grade: B "Irreversible" is an intriguing drama from director Gaspar Noe, that at times shocks and at other times engages. Then again, the chaotic direction may just leave you bored to tears. Read the full movie review

Not as great as all the hype, by June

May 24, 2004

the only great thing about the movie is that the director was bold enough to show such graphic scenes (aka the rape scene & the bash the head to pulp scene). the director did a fantastic job with the head bashing scene as it seemed so real that you are compelled to watch it till to end (the scene that is). however, you'd have to be able to survive the first 20 min or so of unnecessary head-spinning scenes. there have bene reviews that stated the viewer wanted to throw up because of the graphic scenes - well, it's probably because of all the spinning of the camera. the plot is simple at best and at worse just something anyone could come up with. monica b really saved the film cos without all the hype about her naked bod, no one is going to want to watch this film. watching this film in the cinema only exemplified this when i could clearly see that all the male audience were figeting throughout the film other than bits when monica b was naked. overall, not worth the hype at all. real disappointment and the director should really thank the media for hyping up his film cos if not for the media, no one would be even interested in it.
