May 25, 2004I am excited about the movie but also feel like it is going to take away from the imagination and the excitement of discovery from the reader. I read this book with my bilingual students and they have a great time discovering things out that they never have heard of before.
"Winn Dixie" even to me as an adult from Midwest
is foreign, and it takes some dreaming to figure out what the store looks like and making that connection every time. The movie may take some of those connections away, I hope it doesnt. I really hope its great so that I can have fun showing the movie every year after we read the book.
