Movie Review
From the director of In the Name of the Father comes a much more intimate tale of struggling to overcome adversity, both from the world around and within. In America is a sensational piece of art from Jim Sheridan, which is nearly flawless in its execution. Full movie review »

May 17, 2004I saw the movie on the DVD, a few days ago.
It is so real and touching. I know so many people who went through a similar situation including us. It is not easy to immigrate with papers, no wonder what's going on when you are illegal in US / Canada.
Sarah (Christy) is great.

February 23, 2004A+ -- one of the finest movies I've seen in a long time -- thank you for making it -- I'm a New Yorker and loved seeing and feeling the true "heart" of the City -- where anything is possible -- I hope it will win many, many awards -- congratulations to all ...

January 28, 2004I went to see this film with my 13 year old son. He reads a lot about movies and was desperate to see this one. I, on the other hand, had no idea what to expect when we went to see it. Now, I can't stop talking about it!! I thought it was wonderful, as did my son. I will definitely trust his opinion about which movies we should see from now on. The acting and story were superb. I look forward to more from Jim Sheriden

January 12, 2004Mu husband and I saw this movie on Jan.10.04 and were so moved by it we immediately called our daughter and told her to see it. She was here today and she also was completely entralled with the movie. The girls were wonderful - the comment "I have been carrying this family on my back for the past year" was priceless. Mateo played his part brilliantly. We also enjoyed the performances of the mother and father - but the girls and Mateo stole the show in our opinion. We think these three deserve, at the very least, an Oscar nomination. Do yourself a favor - go and see the movie - you will be moved by it!
