freeway: A chav's odyssey?, by lucy
July 2, 2005
First, I just wanted to say that this is one of the best films I have ever seen. It's anti-establishment, feminist morals and messages really made an impact upon me. Also, I have always been fascinated with Little Red Riding Hood and Bright's take on the tale is as good as/better than Angela Carters tale 'In The Company Of Wolves' which uncovers the real reason Red was punished(eaten). I also thought it was quite pro-chav because, Vanessa the main character is pure-trailer trash, the American equivalent of the British Chav. This film shows that despite the Middle/upper classes superiority complex it is Vanessa, the chav in the end who is the heroine of this peice. In one word: revolutionary!
