Movie Review

"When a Stranger Calls" is one of the worst horror movies I've seen in a long time. Not without good production values, an attractive lead character and a decent if overused (and remade) premise, "When a Stranger Calls" is not your typical bad horror movie... Full movie review »

This movie was really good compared to other PG-13 scary movies. At least i would give it a "C" and thats the least.

Based on a well-known and extremely outlandish urban legend, “When a Stranger Calls” proves to us that, once again, the best parts are shown in the previews. The opening 30 minutes alone is what carried the movie and kept me from walking out, as well as the ending scenes. Unfortunately, it’s the back-story that left me empty and disappointed, making it a formulaic would be shocker and not a blockbuster hit. For the most part, the film is slow and dull, and the plot is very weak when not focused on the girl held captive inside the house. I feel the main character has joined the list of other would-be female heroes portrayed in scary movies (i.e. Drew Barrymore “Scream”) by running towards the killer instead of away from him. This movie is not for those who enjoy the out-and-out blood and guts but prefer films where the unseen is more unsettling.

What an awesome remake! It gave me cold chills and I left wondering like I know it wanted me too. This is one of the best PG-13 movies I've seen in a long time. Good film!
